The volume investigates how changes in politics and economy in the nascent Ottoman empire affected the configuration of a medium-sized late medieval city. To do so she uses the tools of the architectural and urban history, showing how cities reflect and react to large scale change. The volume is the twelfth to be published in a series based on dissertations completed by doctoral researchers who have participated in CLIOHRES.net, a Network of Excellence for History, supported by the Directorate General for Research of the European Commission through its Sixth Framework Programme.
