Architecture Culture Environment is a fundamen-tal trinomial for a new design approach promo-ting new holistic skills and tools for managing the transformation of the built environment. the transformation of the built environment. The approach focuses on both new and existing buildings and considers the different impacts at the urban level towards a sustainable development. A.C.E. is also the name of an educational program promoted and organized by IEEM (Instituto de Estudos Europeus de Macau), Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and Albergue SCM (Macau) addressing professionals and MSc students from Asia and Europe. The process of transformation of the City of Macau offers a starting point to discuss about the need for preservation of the urban heritage and the ineluctable development of the society. The cooperation throughout the partnership of ACE program is a real example of open debate and positive interaction between East and West.
